Susan Moerder holds a BS from The State University of New York and an MS in Education and Marine Sciences from Iona College. She taught at Francis Parker School for 32 years and served as Assistant Head of the Upper School for 6 years, Chair of the Science Department for 9 years and ASB Advisor for 10 years. She joined the Parker staff after teaching in Bronx, New York, and Vail, Colorado. She retired from the classroom in 2014 to devote more time to UCSD's Global Environmental Leadership and Sustainability program. She has been involved with UCSD's GELS program since it's onset in 2010 and has been recognized for her achievements with Stanford University’s Teacher Tribute Award, Parker’s Mulliken Award For Excellence in Teaching, and California’s Outstanding Leadership Advisor for San Diego and Imperial Counties.
