Fees for GELS Programs
1. $100 non-refundable application fee for all locations.
2. GELS - Hawai'i: $3,600 includes course materials, room, all meals, ground transportation and activities. (Does not include airfare)
  GELS - Washington DC: $4800 includes course materials, room, all meals, ground transportation and activities. (Includes airfare from San Diego to Washington DC only.

How To Apply

Step One: Create a Student Account

Please take a moment to create an account in the student's name. Proceed to Step Two if you have created an account previously.

Step Two: Pay the Application Fee

GELS Programs

Application Closed for Summer 2024

You will be directed to the UC San Diego Extension payment gateway to pay the appropriate application fee.

Please watch this video if you need additional help with paying the application fee and filling out the application.

Step Three: Fill Out and Submit Your Application

After payment, you will reach a confirmation page with a link to the application. Please click on the application link.

You will need to fill out the application in its entirety. You will need to download all the forms needed - teacher recommendation, authorization forms and medical form (as appropriate). You will also need to obtain and upload your latest "unofficial" transcript and your latest head shot photo. Once you have uploaded all of your filled out and signed documents, you can submit your completed application to the program for review.

PLEASE NOTE: You will be able to save and return to your application until you are ready to submit it with all of the required documents.

GELS - Hawai'i

$4,800 tuition, course materials, room, meals, ground transportation and activities (Includes airfare from San Diego to Washington, DC only)

GELS Acceptance

Students who apply are accepted on a rolling basis. However, we highly recommend students apply sooner rather than later so that they get their name in the pool.

GELS Cancellations/Refund Policies

Cancellation or withdrawal for any reason prior to April 5, 2024 will receive a 50% tuition refund.

Cancellation or withdrawal for any reason April 6 - April 26, 2024 will receive 25% tuition refund

Refunds for cancellation or withdrawal after April 27, 2024 will only be issued for serious illness (doctor's certificate is required) or extenuating circumstances. Tuition is not refunded for students who are dismissed from the program or who leave because of homesickness.

All refund requests must be made in writing to Maysoon Dong, Program Manager, UCSD Pre-College Programs at: academicconnections@ucsd.edu. You will receive a confirmation of your request. Refunds will take approximately 4-6 weeks to process. Refunds are issued in the same method of payment (check or charge) of payment to UC San Diego Academic Connections.
