How to Apply to the Arizona, Catalina, Hawai'i, & Washington D.C. Programs

Step One: Create a Student Account

Please take a moment to create an account in the student's name. Proceed to Step Two if you have created an account previously.

Step Two: Pay the Application Fee

Select the program of your choice from the linked options below.

Academic Connections Programs

You will be directed to the UC San Diego Extension payment gateway to pay the $100 non-refundable application fee. The application fee is $100 for every program you choose to apply to.

Step Three: Fill Out and Submit Your Application

After payment, you will reach a confirmation page with a link to the application. Please click on the application link.

You will need to fill out the application in its entirety.  You will need to download all the forms needed - teacher recommendation, authorization forms and medical form (as appropriate).  You will also need to obtain and upload your latest "unofficial" transcript and your latest head shot photo. Once you have uploaded all of your filled out and signed documents, you can submit your completed application to the program for review.

PLEASE NOTE: You will be able to save and return to your application until you are ready to submit it with all of the required documents.

$3,100 tuition, course materials, room, meals, ground transportation and activities (Does not include airfare)


Global Environmental Leadership and Sustainability: Arizona
$100 non-refundable application fee
$3,000 tuition, course materials, room, meals, ground transportation and activities (Does not include airfare)


Global Environmental Leadership and Sustainability: San Diego/Washington, DC
$100 non-refundable application fee
$4800 tuition, course materials, room, meals, ground transportation and activities (Includes airfare from San Diego to Washington, DC only)

Global Environmental Leadership and Sustainability: Catalina Island
$100 non-refundable application fee
$500 tuition, course materials, room, meals, ground transportation and activities (includes transportation from Dana Point to Avalon and back to Dana Point only)

Acceptance

Program information will be e-mailed to all students accepted to the GELS programs. The student will receive a Student Handbook that should be reviewed with parents and the last page signed and returned to Academic Connections in a timely manner.

Cancellations/Refund Policies

Cancellation or withdrawal for any reason prior to April 2, 2018 will receive a 50% tuition refund.

Cancellation or withdrawal for any reason April 2 - June 15, 2018 will receive 25% tuition refund

Refunds for cancellation or withdrawal after June 15, 2018 will be issued for serious illness (doctor's certificate is required) or extenuating circumstances only. Tuition is not refunded for students who are dismissed from the program or who leave because of homesickness.

All refund requests must be made in writing to Robin Wittman, Manager, UCSD Pre-College Programs at: academicconnections@ucsd.edu. You will receive a confirmation of your request. Refunds will take approximately 4-6 weeks to process. Refunds are issued in the same method of payment (check or charge) of payment to UC San Diego Academic Connections.
