Meet in Hilo, either drop-off* at Hilo Hawaiian Hotel or be at Hilo airport baggage claim for a 3:30 pm pickup

*please do not arrive to the hotel before 3:00 pm if being dropped off

Check into Hilo Hawaiian Hotel (HHH) and settle in

Evening Session 1: Hawaiian culture and traditions/Island Issues
GELS program introduction

Day 2 - Sunday June 23 - Marine Life Studies

7:00 a.m.

Breakfast HHH/ Morning stretch

Morning Session 2: Earth Systems 1
Depart for Coconut Island - tide pool and fish studies 

12:00 p.m.

1:00 p.m.  

Afternoon Session: Marine studies continue – those comfortable snorkeling will have the opportunity to do so

Free time back at hotel when field studies conclude

5:00 p.m.

Possible visit to UHH campus before dinner

6:30 p.m. 

Dinner at Cronie's in Hilo town 

7:30 p.m.

Evening Session 3: Intro to Social Change Model

Depart for Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park (HVNP)
Note: Students will have free time in vans while traveling to destination.

Note: Students will have free time in vans while traveling to destination.
